As partner to the UEFA Champions League, Nissan launched the exciting #NissanFootballPassion competition offering the ultimate UCL fan the opportunity to join Nissan for the Ultimate VIP UEFA Champions League Final Experience in South Africa.
“For millions of people, football isn’t just a sport, it’s a religion. With over-the-top paraphernalia such as makarapas and vuvuzelas, fans celebrate the game in so many creative ways. We understand passion, whether it’s for football or performance and we decided to give passionate Africans a chance to have a little fun in showing off their enthusiasm for the beautiful game,” said Xavier Gobille, Nissan Africa Sales and Marketing MD.
Nissan launched #NissanFootballPassion and ran a hotly-contested competition on Facebook throughout various African countries. The competition involved people sharing their passion for football by using an interactive Facebook photo filter, which contained various football fan-gear, to create the ultimate fan selfie before sharing it on social media. After receiving more than 1600 entries throughout Sub-Sahara Africa, Vishen Coopamah from Mauritius was selected as the ultimate UCL fan to join Nissan in an once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Vishen was flown to South Africa for the Nissan GT-R track experience and to view the UEFA Champions League Final on 26 May 2018. Coopamah chose his father to accompany him on what was a fun-filled exhibition of performance from the Legendary Nissan GT-R and Leaf Nismo racing cars and later on attending the VIP sceening of the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.
"The welcome and experience with Nissan was simply amazing. Driven from the airport in the new Nissan Patrol was a first for me and a memory to remember. The GT-R track experience was sensational and a dream come true. I cannot put the joy of driving the GT-R into words and now understand why the GT-R has such a legendary reputation. It truly is an unbelieveable vehicle" said Vishen. "Allthough my team did not win, the UCL final evening was great fun filled with excitement and this truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
NISSAN GOAL OF THE WEEK
Nissan also partnered with SuperSport to run the Nissan Goal Of The Week competition where entrants voted weekly for their favourite UEFA goal and they were subsequently entered into a competition to win the all-new Nissan Qashqai which has an array of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features. The winner of this competition will only be drawn after the goal highlights of the UEFA final is aired in June. The competition is being run on SuperSport and is open to all DSTV subscribers in Africa.
